How long have you worked at Hargreaves Land and can you describe your role within the firm?
I joined Hargreaves Land in July 2019. I am currently involved with one of Hargreaves Land’s flagship development projects, as well as appraising and acquiring development opportunities in the North East.
What attracted you to a career in the property sector?
I always intended to study for a vocational qualification when leaving school and an interest in Geography, and particularly the built environment, steered me towards a career in surveying.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the sense of accomplishment and satisfaction in dealing with a development from inception and seeing what has been created upon completion. The varied workload combined with getting out of the office to work closely with multi-disciplinary teams keeps the job very interesting.
What projects are you currently working on?
I am currently working on Hargreaves Land’s Blindwells mixed use development at Tranent, East Lothian. The scheme will provide 1,600 new homes, including educational facilities, retail outlets and a healthcare hub.
What has been the highlight of your career?
Before I joined Hargreaves Land, I played a key role in hitting housing target numbers across Newcastle upon Tyne with the delivery of much needed private, affordable and supported housing. I am particularly proud and passionate about this area of work.
Describe your dream holiday
A Pacific Coast Highway road trip in the USA. One of the most scenic drives in the world with plenty of incredible stops along the way.
When you’re not at work what do you like to do?
When I’m not at work I enjoy spending quality time with my wife and two young children, usually somewhere in the Northumberland countryside or on Tyneside’s coastline.
