Hargreaves Land has submitted a planning application to Braintree District Council for outline permission to develop up to 70 new homes in Halstead, Essex.
In recent years Hargreaves has worked closely with the Council in order to secure the residential allocation for the 5-acre site within the draft Local Plan.
The proposals, which have been designed by architects O’Neill Homer, set out a mix of dwelling types which include homes and apartments from 2-4 bedrooms. A new footbridge will give access to an open space and wildlife corridor alongside the brook, which will include a play area for toddlers and younger children.
Commenting on the planning submission, Lee Weatherall, planning and development manager at Hargreaves Land, said: “Our proposed scheme will make an important contribution to the District’s current housing needs. This represents a sustainable development and importantly, the site is well screened from the open countryside by its topography, landscaped boundaries and adjoining development. In addition the scheme will further benefit the local area by providing funding for a much needed road widening scheme on Fenn Road”.
Ahead of making the planning submission, Hargreaves Land and its professional team has undertaken an extensive consultation process, which included a public consultation event in February at Queens Hall in Chipping Hill, Halstead.
