New facilities for one of the oldest sports clubs in Yorkshire have moved one step closer after we were able to make a contribution from the Hargreaves CSR fund.
Our donation is to go towards a new artificial pitch and net at Hatfield Town Cricket Club, a registered charity which provides coaching for all stages of life and at all levels for people from across Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
In addition to hosting eight junior teams, four men’s teams, and a women’s team, catering for cricketers from as young as five, the club is a huge fixture in the Doncaster East and Isle of Axholme community, near to where our joint venture development Unity is based, with regular events such as quizzes and curry nights to bring in extra funds, and to maintain a sense of teamwork and belonging that we share here at Hargreaves Land.
Our regional director Andy Johnson said: “We share some fundamental values with the team at Hatfield Town and appreciate their ability to maintain a proud tradition while embracing new development, both in cricket and beyond.
“We look forward to seeing the new pitch and net in use, so current and future club members can enjoy such an important part of local culture for many matches to come!”
Club trustee Martin Winstanley added: “A big thank you from all club members and trustees for your support. The new facilities will offer us greater durability so we can play more matches and support more people to enjoy cricket!
“New members are always welcome so please come down and have a go or get in touch with any questions.”
