Blindwells master developer Hargreaves Land has awarded a major infrastructure contract to a Scottish civil engineering and construction group, paving the way for the next phase of development at the East Lothian new town.

I & H Brown has secured a £3million contract which will see the delivery of reinforced retaining walls for the forthcoming Blindwells town centre as well as enabling works for Plot 7, a 12-acre residential site. The new infrastructure contract also includes several new roads within Blindwells, a sustainable drainage basin, a new waste water pumping station and associated drainage works.

The contract extends a successful partnership between the two companies that spans more than a decade, and Hargreaves says this latest round of investment will unlock new development and support the next stage of Blindwells’ growth. The former open-cast mine has been transformed over the past 10-years with over 500 new homes already delivered and last summer the new Primary School opened its doors for the first time.

Work on the new infrastructure project began on site on 6th July and is scheduled for completion in March 2027.
