Meet the Team - Zoe Shearman

Find out more about our latest recruit, Zoe Shearman, who has recently joined our Leeds office to identify new acquisition opportunities across Yorkshire, the North West & the Midlands…

How long have you worked at Hargreaves Land and can you describe your role within the firm?
I recently joined Hargreaves Land in November.  In my role as Development Surveyor, I find and bring forward new development opportunities within the central region.

What attracted you to a career in the property sector?
I really enjoyed seeing places change and improve over time when I was younger, so that’s always been an interest of mine, but I never really knew what I wanted to do for a career.  It wasn’t until I found (and started) my degree in Planning and Development at NTU that I realised what a career in property could offer in terms of opportunities and variety, which really appealed.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
The types of opportunities we are looking at are often really varied and no two sites are the same, which makes it interesting.  I also enjoy the challenge to look at the delivery of a site in different ways to establish the best approach for us.

What projects are you currently working on?
I’m currently looking at a number of potential development opportunities across the central region and also working on progressing the delivery of the Environmental Resource Centre at Tower Colliery.

What has been the highlight of your career?
Other than joining Hargreaves Land?  Probably passing my APC, although, I think it was the level of relief from passing more than anything!

Describe your dream holiday
My dream holiday would probably be travelling across Japan. So many parts of the country look amazing from the cities to the beaches, I’d really like to visit as many places as possible and experience all the food and culture it has to offer.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself that people may not know
I’ve moved around a lot in my life and have lived in 12 different counties across England.

When you’re not at work what do you like to do?
Motorsport is my main hobby and I compete in sprint and hillclimb events in a Toyota MR2.  I really enjoy that it takes me to new parts of the country and the community spirit is amazing. I’ve met some great people from different walks of life competing and we all share a passion for motorsport, it’s definitely an enjoyable way to spend a weekend.
