Next phase of infrastructure works to pave the way for new homes

Significant infrastructure works are set to unlock further development at Blindwells following the agreement of a new multimillion-pound contract.

Hargreaves Land has agreed a £2.5m contract with civil engineering firm I & H Brown to deliver the second phase of infrastructure works at the 390-acre scheme in East Lothian.

The works, which are due to commence in mid-June and scheduled to complete in Q2 2022, will facilitate the development of further new homes by Bellway, which is currently on site and Persimmon which has submitted planning for 197 new homes.

Scott Waite, head of project management at Hargreaves Land, said: “From the outset we have been committed to ensuring that the development at Blindwells is underpinned by the provision of sound infrastructure. I&H Brown has successfully delivered the enabling infrastructure to facilitate new homes for Cruden over the past two years and we are delighted to be working with them on the next phase of works.”

The contract will install all infrastructure work; road & footpath construction including telecoms/fibre ducting and gas, electrical and water services, SUDs ponds and all associated underground drainage works, serving plots 2B and 3A.

Cruden Homes is currently on site delivering 60 affordable houses for East Lothian Housing Association. Bellway is delivering a range of 3 and 4-bed family homes as part of its Prince’s Gate scheme with the first residents expected to be in their new homes by autumn 2021.
