Hargreaves Land joins Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce

Regeneration and commercial property specialist Hargreaves Land has joined Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce as the firm expands operations in Scotland including the ongoing development of Blindwells.

The move, which comes as Hargreaves continues to bring forward new commercial and residential opportunities at the site on the outskirts of Edinburgh, sees the firm become a Chamber Premier Partner. Keen to establish new relationships with businesses in the area, membership will open up access to the Chamber’s network and events along with advice and participation in high-profile lobbying campaigns via the Scottish Chambers of Commerce network.

A mix of more than 1600 new homes and 480 affordable properties are being constructed at Blindwells over 10 years as part of ambitious plans to transform one of Scotland’s former coalfields into a thriving new community.

A key feature is the creation of 20-minute neighbourhoods – places built specifically to allow residents to meet their daily requirements within a few minutes’ walk of their front doors. These include safe pathways and cycle routes, door-step health facilities and services, local schools, parks and open spaces, new safe streets and opportunities for employment.

Hargreaves Land is working with several development partners at Blindwells, where a 2.12 Ha plot (Plot C5) is currently available to bring forward new commercial projects that will benefit from access to good transport links, a skilled locally available workforce and regional investment.

With offices in Leeds, Durham and Glasgow, the company specialises in land regeneration and property development, leading the way in remediation strategies and successfully creating schemes that deliver much-needed employment opportunities and housing.

Bruce Lindsay, Hargreaves Land’s development director, who looks forward a strong working relationship with the Chamber, said: “In becoming a Premier member, we look forward to accessing the chamber’s networking events, advisory services and its foremost position as a platform to showcase the new commercial opportunities opening up at Blindwells to members.”

Karen Ritchie, CEO at Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce said: “I am delighted that Hargreaves sees the value of membership and I look forward to working with them over the next year. Bruce and his team believe in building successful long-term relationships with their clients and we believe that the services included in our Premier Partner package will be of benefit to them.”
