A £7.6m earthworks contract has been awarded to a Perthshire firm of civil engineers as investment in Blindwells is set to gather pace in 2022.
I & H Brown has been appointed by Hargreaves Land to undertake a series of surcharge & earthworks which will directly impact the delivery of new homes as well as education and leisure amenities at Blindwells.
The works, which are due for completion in January 2023, include deconstruction of the surcharge to phases 4A, 5A and 5B including platform works for these important residential sites.
I and H Brown will also be responsible for platform works to the site of the new primary school and access road. The firm will also work on the formation of the new Princes Loch including associated drainage as well as new footpaths, access tracks and street lighting.
Scott Waite, head of project management at Hargreaves Land, said: “I & H Brown has recently commenced on the latest round of earthworks which will enable us to deliver our ambitious masterplan for Blindwells. We have already established an excellent working relationship with the I & H Brown team and look forward to working with them over the course of the next 12 months.”
Cruden Homes is currently on site delivering 60 affordable homes for East Lothian Council. Bellway is delivering a range of 3 and 4-bed family homes as part of its Prince’s Gate scheme with the first residents now in occupation.
