Latest land sale secured at Blindwells

Hargreaves Land is delighted to announce that demand for new homes at Blindwells continues to gather pace and that we have successfully secured a new partner to join us on a 4.57-acre plot for further residential development.

We have concluded conditional missives with Stirling-based housebuilders Ogilvie Homes, part of the Ogilvie Group, for Plot 11 for 77 new homes.

Blindwells is a flagship New Town project in East Lothian that is seen as one of Scotland’s most ambitious housing and mixed-use projects which offers easy access for residents to services and good transport links to Edinburgh city centre.

Ogilvie Homes’ proposals include a mix of two, three and four bedroomed residential properties constructed as part of a £15m development that will include 23 family homes available for social rent. It also marks the first time the company will work alongside other housebuilders as part of a large-scale, multi-phase development.

Continued new development at Blindwells will be seen as an added boost to local housing stock, particularly the availability of more affordable accommodation, and comes as Scotland continues to suffer from a shortage of quality housing.

Julie Leece, land manager at Ogilvie Homes, said: “We’re delighted to have concluded our deal on Plot 11 and look forward to bringing our plans for Blindwells to fruition. These will create much needed quality homes within a wider house building strategy, contributing significantly to meeting local housing needs and creating a really strong sense of community.”

Bruce Lindsay, development director at Hargreaves Land, said development of the plot marks the next ‘exciting’ phase of the site’s overall long-term regeneration.

He said: “We are delighted to be working with Ogilvie, who are committed to creating a development that will meet community needs and deliver exceptional high-quality homes for East Lothian. This exciting phase in the Blindwells regeneration story marks another chapter of positive change to this part of Scotland.”

Part of the £340 million turnover Ogilvie Group, Ogilvie Homes is one of Scotland’s fastest growing house builders with current sales of £45m and developments in Boness, Crieff, and Plean among several other sites. The company offers new homes and social housing properties that combine exterior character with interior spaciousness and high levels of craftsmanship.

Real estate consultancy firm JLL is acting as the residential land agent for Blindwells and handled the sale of Plot 11 on behalf of Hargreaves Land.

Blindwells has planning consent for 1,600 new homes and proposals also include education facilities, a healthcare hub, local retail outlets and many other services needed for a new community.
